JYG 6th & 7th Shul-In
Saturday, April 15, 2023 • 24 Nisan 5783
7:15 PM - 9:00 AM Next DayCECWhat is a “Shul-in”?
A shul-in is an overnight lock-in at Congregation Etz Chaim.
When is it?
April 15th to 16th. Drop off is at 7:15pm on the 15th and pick up will be at 8:45am on the 16th.
Who will be supervising?
Our four wonderful chaperones are congregants and JYG facilitators: Matt, David, Taylor, and Danna. Rabbi Wainer will also be joining us for Havdalah in the evening.
What activities will be provided?
We will kick-off the evening with Havdalah, followed by a variety of board games, video games, art activities, and a movie. In the morning, we’ll play gagaball and other games.
What food will be served?
We will have a build-your-own-ice-cream station during the evening and donuts with light refreshments for breakfast in the morning. There will also be snacks available during the night. We will not be serving dinner, so please have your child eat before arriving.
What should my child bring?
Sleepover standards: change of clothes, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, sleeping bag, pillow, etc. Air mattresses and cots are also welcome. Cell phones are permitted.
Your child is also welcome to bring board games or video games (Nintendo Switch) they would like to share! However, it is your child’s responsibility to keep track of these.
Can my child go, but not sleep over?
Yes! Pick-up for those who won’t be sleeping over is at 10pm. Please indicate this preference on the RSVP form.
What do we do if we arrive late or I need to pick up my child early?
For security, CEC keeps the doors locked at all times. Prior to the shul-in, you will be sent an email with contact phone number(s) where you can reach us so that we can let your child in the building outside the designated pick up and drop off times.
Is my child required to attend religious school on Sunday morning?
Religious school attendance is optional on Sunday, April 16th for those who have attended the Shul-in.
My child takes morning or night medication. Can you assist with this?
If your child is not able to self-administer medication, please assist your child before arriving or after pick up. Chaperones are not permitted to carry or administer a participant’s medication.
My child has a disability or health condition, who can I talk to about accommodations?
One of our chaperones, Taylor, is a special education teacher with multiple years of inclusion experience. Please email us at Youth@mycec.org. We are happy to discuss how we can best support your child for a fun and safe night!
Who can I contact if I have other questions?
You can reach out to our JYG team at Youth@mycec.org
