Religious & Hebrew School at Etz Chaim

Our Religious and Hebrew School programs are tuition-free for members, a meaningful benefit of membership. We serve students from birth through 10th grade, guided by a covenant of community, inclusion, and loving kindness.

Enrollment

Enrollment for 2025–2026 is open to members. There is no tuition for our Religious and Hebrew school programs, they are a benefit of membership. For all grades, there is a $165 book and supply fee per learner (Shorashim has no fee).

To enroll your PreK–10th grade student, contact Marla Aviva Bentley, RJE (Director of Lifelong Learning) or Andrea Schuster (Assistant Director of Education). For Shorashim (Birth–Age 3), registration is free and ongoing.

Your Child’s Path Through School

Shorashim – Birth to Age 3

Free adult-tot programming to begin building Jewish identity from the very beginning. Registration is free and ongoing, sign up anytime.

Consecration – Kindergarten / 1st–2nd Grade

The formal beginning of Jewish education at CEC. Children recite the Sh’ma, sing “Little Torah,” and receive their own little Torah and a certificate with their English and Hebrew names at Simchat Torah.

Religious & Hebrew School – PreK through 10th Grade

Tuition-free for members (just a $165 book/supply fee). Students build Jewish identity, friendships, and values that last a lifetime, progressing from basic Hebrew reading through advanced Jewish study.

B’nai Mitzvah – Personalized Preparation

Years of guided preparation with our clergy culminating in a milestone service. Becoming B’nai Mitzvah means accepting the duties and responsibilities of a Jewish adult. Contact Rabbi Wainer to begin.

Confirmation – 10th Grade

Following a year of study with our rabbis, confirmands lead the congregation in a worship service and share personal reflections, affirming their commitment to Jewish life. At CEC, all learners are expected to continue through Confirmation.

Madrichim – 11th & 12th Grade Teen Leaders

Volunteer in classrooms as mentors and Hebrew reading partners. Earn community service hours, strengthen your Jewish identity, and build your college application. There is a place for everyone in Madrichim.
